Our Story

At 26 years old with their first child only being 3 months old, Vaughn and Mary Jarrett held the first service in Brea in April of 2008.  They will be the first to tell you that they didn't know what they were doing or what they were getting themselves into but all who have called The Way home will tell you that the Jarrett's love for Jesus, boldness, and willingness to take such a huge risk has been an inspiration since day one!

Sidewalk Sanctuary has been the heartbeat of The Way  since our inception.  From Pastor Vaughn outreaching alone in the evenings after work, to the majority of the congregation feeding, clothing, ministering, and praying with strangers all over Southern California from San Diego to Skid Row.

The Jarrett family has grown as the church has grown.  One baby has become three, and nursery kids have become youth members.  The Way has been focused on growing and developing other families to know Jesus and serve in the Kingdom.  The church has become a place with a strong local foundation and this gives the ministry the ability to reach out beyond the local congregation to see the lost found and the spiritually dead raised to life by the power and presence of Jesus our Lord and Savior.  The Way is a place where people find community, friendship, authenticity, a clear biblical world view, challenge, and support.
